There are a few other organizations around the country working on issues relating to private financial resources for people with disabilities. UDES is unique in its focus on working to make both government policy and private sector changes to help families provide private financial support to enhance the quality of life for their seriously disabled children.

"Disabled Adult Child" Social Security Benefit

Working with the office of Rep. Xavier Becerra, UDES has gotten the Social Security Administration to provide more accessible and in-depth information on its website about DAC, an important social security benefit for eligible adult disabled children. UDES continues to advocate for further improvements in the SSA's handling of DAC.
